Posted on Sep 10, 2013
Two people are in custody and another one is being pursued after a Lake Charles car accident involving three vehicles.
The accident happened in the middle of the afternoon, around 2:45 p.m. A Lake Charles police officer tried to stop a vehicle. When the police cruiser turned on its lights, the other vehicle sped away, fleeing the police. During the pursuit, the Lake Charles police officer found out that the vehicle in pursuit was stolen August 10, 2013, days prior to the accident.
During the pursuit the suspects lost control and crashed into another vehicle, which then crashed into a parked car. The collision happened at the intersection of 13th Street and 2nd Avenue in Lake Charles. According to Deputy Chief Mark Kraus, the spokesperson for the Lake Charles Police, the suspects fled on foot after the crash. Now, two suspects are in custody and one is still being pursued.
The residents in the neighborhoods surrounding the site of the crash were advised to secure their property and call the police if they saw anything suspicious.
The passengers in the vehicle struck by the police suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
At our Lake Charles traffic accident law firm, we know how easily speed can cause a car accident. When suspects flee the scene of a crash, they usually do so at a high speed. This can be very dangerous for the people on the road around them.
We send our best wishes that the passengers in the vehicle that was struck will have a full and speedy recovery after this scary incident.
